SACRED LIVING

Sacred Living helps women bring their spiritual practice into relationship with the life they are actually living.

Sacred Living was born from recognising a gap between spiritual practice and everyday life.

We may love yoga, meditation, mantra, ritual and the teachings that nourish us, and yet still find ourselves depleted, overwhelmed, disconnected from our bodies or unsure how to carry our practice into the ordinary rhythms of our lives.

Ayurveda offers us another way.

Rather than asking us to step away from life in order to practise, Ayurveda asks us to become deeply interested in the life that is already here, our bodies, our energy, our digestion, our habits, our environment, the seasons, the food we eat, the way we rest and the rhythms by which we live.

A LIFE OF PRACTICE

Sometimes practice is meditation, mantra, self-inquiry or puja.

Sometimes it is recognising that you are depleted and choosing not to push through.

It might be changing what you eat as the season changes, learning how your constitution responds to stress, taking a walk after lunch, tending to your digestion, working consciously with your breath, creating an evening ritual or understanding why a practice that nourishes one woman may not nourish another.

Sacred Living is interested in all of it.

Because our spiritual lives do not exist separately from our bodies, our relationships, our kitchens, our work, our families or the seasons through which we move.

This is where practice becomes lived.

SVASTHA

There is a beautiful Sanskrit word at the heart of Sacred Living: Svastha.

Often translated simply as health, its deeper meaning is to be established in one's Self.

This gives us a very different orientation toward wellbeing.

Rather than constantly trying to improve, perfect or fix ourselves, we begin to cultivate the conditions that allow us to return, again and again to greater steadiness, clarity, vitality and connection.

Ayurveda gives us practical ways to recognise when we have moved away from that steadiness and how we might begin finding our way back.

So, where do I begin?

BEGIN WITH THE FOUNDATIONS

The Sacred Living foundational program is a personalised introduction to living and practising the wisdom of Ayurveda and Yoga.

Over five individual sessions, we explore the foundations of Ayurveda and begin applying them directly to your own life.

You will begin to understand your constitution, your current patterns and imbalances, digestion and nourishment, daily and seasonal rhythms, energy, rest and the practices that best support you.

We work with what is actually happening in your life.

Our sessions may include meditation, movement, self-inquiry, body-based practices, ritual, mantra, puja, Ayurvedic practices and practical changes to food and daily rhythm.

From this work, we begin developing a way of practising that belongs to you.

YOUR PROGRAM INCLUDES:

One 90-minute initial consultation

Four one-hour individual sessions

A personalised Sacred Living practice journal, created for you and filled with relevant practices, reflections, Ayurvedic wisdom, rituals and recipes

Recordings of your sessions

Support between sessions

Sessions are available online or in person.

THEN THE PRACTICE CONTINUES

Sacred Living is not designed to end when the foundational program finishes.

Throughout the year, women who have completed the foundations will be invited into a series of five-week Sacred Living Sādhanas.

These are periods of focused practice shaped by the rhythms and wisdom of Ayurveda; the seasons, the elements, our constitutions and the changing needs of our bodies and lives.

One sādhana may explore the transition into autumn. Another might take us deeply into one of the five elements.

Another may explore nourishment, digestion, rest, energy, ritual or the particular ways Vata, Pitta and Kapha move through our lives.

The subject may change but the intention remains the same: to take what we know and bring it into practice.

During these five-week periods there will also be opportunities to work with me individually, allowing us to refine the practices and respond to what is arising for you.

You may return for one sādhana during the year or move through several.

In this way, Sacred Living becomes less like a program you complete and more like a rhythm you can return to.

PRACTICE IN COMMUNITY

There are also times when practice asks us to gather.

Women & Fire is the workshop and gathering expression of Sacred Living — a space for women to come together in practice, inquiry, ritual and relationship with the teachings.

These gatherings move with their own rhythm throughout the year, responding to the seasons and to what is alive within the community.

Some periods invite us to gather around the fire.

Others invite us to turn inward.

Both belong to the practice.

Sacred Living is a path of sādhana where the wisdom of your practice gradually becomes the way you live.

Work with me

Why Learn with Rabia?

My work is grounded in more than twenty-five years of studying Yoga, Ayurveda and contemplative practice, and shaped by many years of living, practising and serving within the Siddha Yoga tradition under the guidance of Swami Shankarananda and Devi Ma Saraswati.

The deepest teachings are not only studied, they are lived.

It is a privilege to walk beside women as they establish a life of sincere sādhana, allowing the timeless wisdom of the tradition to become a natural expression of everyday life.
